Village Remodeling Story

Gene Cherrnay started Village Designs & Remodeling in Highland Village after almost 30 years in the kitchen & bath design, and remodeling business in the Dallas & Forth Worth area. Earning his degree in architecture from the New York Institute of Technology, Cherrnay began his career in Park Cities, working for the prestigious Brad Pence Company, which later became Bentwood Kitchens. He managed daily operations in the upscale Dallas showroom, along with designing and remodeling kitchens. Several of Cherrnay’s projects were featured in D Magazine. From there, he worked for a decade in regional sales and marketing for KraftMaid Cabinetry, where he became an expert insemi-custom cabinetry. Wanting to be closer to his family, Cherrnay took a position in Lewisville at Morrow Custom Cabinets, a multi-million-dollar cabinet manufacturer.  At Morrow, he oversaw all remodeling projects from design to completion. After starting Village Designs and Remodeling in 2008, he continues to bring a dynamic approach and success to projects. A long-time Frank Lloyd Wright enthusiast, many of Cherrnay’s designs employ the famed architect’s clean lines and inspiration from nature. From conceiving innovative designs to ordering materials and scheduling subcontractors, Cherrnay oversees projects to his clients’ dream completion.   To stay current on design trends, Cherrnay remains active as a board member of the National Kitchen and Bath Association – Texas North Plains Chapter. He is on the City of Highland Village Zoning Board, and a member of the Flower Mound Chamber of Commerce. Cherrnay’s volunteer activities also include serving as a board member of Denton County Friends of the Family.  In addition to helping his community, he is a CAPS (Certified Aging in Place Specialist) professional and offers discounts to seniors. When he is not designing dream kitchens & baths or contributing to his community and Senior Citizens, Cherrnay makes intricate stained glass window sand pieces of art. An avid camper and canoer, he organizes several trips a year down the Brazos River for buddies and colleagues. Cherrnay and his wife, Amy, are parents to Sara, Andrew, and a mini-beagle, Leah Matilda.
