Upgrade Your Bathroom or Kitchen in 2026

Is 2026 the year you finally turn your outdated bathroom or kitchen into a space you actually love? Whether your home needs a complete renovation or just a few important upgrades, now is a great time to start planning your next remodeling project.

At Village Designs & Remodeling, we help homeowners create beautiful, functional spaces that fit the way they live today.

2026 Bathroom Remodeling Trends

Bathrooms are becoming much more than strictly functional spaces. Homeowners are looking for comfortable, relaxing rooms that feel more like a personal retreat.

One of the biggest trends in 2026 is the larger, more comfortable shower. Many homeowners are replacing outdated tubs or small shower enclosures with spacious showers, including low-curb or curbless designs. Larger showers can improve accessibility while also creating a more open, luxurious feel.

Other popular bathroom upgrades include:

• Larger vanities with additional storage
• Double sinks and built-in organizers
• Better lighting and dimmable fixtures
• Modern tile and natural-looking materials
• Walk-in and low-curb showers
• Nonslip flooring
• Improved ventilation
• Spa-inspired features
• Convenient built-in electrical outlets
• Designs that can accommodate future accessibility needs

Today’s homeowners are also thinking about how their bathroom will work for them several years from now. Features such as wider showers, nonslip flooring, grab bars and improved lighting can make a bathroom more comfortable without sacrificing style.

Give Your Kitchen a 2026 Makeover

The kitchen continues to be one of the most important rooms in the home. But today’s kitchen remodeling isn’t necessarily about making the room bigger. Instead, homeowners are looking for better layouts, smarter storage and improved functionality.

According to 2026 Houzz research, more than half of homeowners changing their kitchen remodel the layout, while most renovated kitchens remain approximately the same size. This means thoughtful design can often make a kitchen work much better without adding square footage.

Kitchen remodeling ideas for 2026 include:

• Warm wood cabinetry instead of an all-white kitchen
• More efficient kitchen layouts
• Pantry cabinets and improved storage
• Beverage and coffee stations
• Better-organized drawers and cabinets
• Updated countertops and backsplashes
• Improved lighting
• Functional kitchen islands
• Appliance storage and organization
• Designs that make entertaining easier

Wood cabinetry has become particularly popular in 2026, with wood overtaking white as the most common cabinet color in Houzz’s latest kitchen trends study.

Remodeling for Comfort, Style and the Future

A successful remodeling project isn’t simply about choosing the latest color or fixture. Your kitchen or bathroom should be designed around how you actually use your home.

Maybe you need more storage. Perhaps your shower is too small. Your kitchen may have an awkward layout, outdated cabinets or not enough counter space. Or maybe you’re simply ready to replace an old space with something that better reflects your personal style.

Whatever your reason for remodeling, thoughtful planning can help you create a space that looks great today and continues to work for you in the future.
